:: Our chainstitch collection encompasses centuries old designs, with this piece being inspired by French Savonnerie and Rococo textiles and decor. Chainstitch is a weaving method that enables a great deal of detailing in patterns, and is especially so for weavings of curvilinear design. There is added dynamic imparted by the spiraling technique in the single colored areas which adds a subtle nuance to the shades of wool based on reflection of light. Colors and shades include: Cobalt blue, ivory, blush, rose, silver, mint green, pale yellow, celadon green, raspberry red, and more. Condition notes: Weave across in original condition. Original side cord selvages intact. Fully secured sides and ends. These rugs have a high quality cotton canvas backing which is incrementally stitched to the perimeter. Due to these merchandise being new old stock, which have been in storage for over twenty years, you may find some imperfections, this may include minor separation easily mended of the canvas to the rug. Scuffs and minor stains may be found to the reverse of the carpet, which do not translate to the front. The backing is not structural in any significant way other than to add weight to the weaving. This type is not recommended for homes with pets who have a tendency to scratch furniture. Recently professionally cleaned ready for in-home use!
